Svetlana Smertin studied at the Hochschule für Musik Theater und Medien Hannover and at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Musica de Madrid. After two diplomas of “Musikerziehung” and “Rhythmik” she completed a stage dance training of modern dance at Sozo visions in motion in Kassel.

Meanwhile she is working self-employed as a musician and dancer and founded in 2017 the “Tanzcompany Miteinander”. Since 2020 she is teaching at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt, Weimar, as well as since 2012 at the Berufsfachschule für Zeitgenössischen Tanz Sozo visions in motion, Kassel.

Since 2019 Smertin is teaching at Zentrum für Musik und Sprache Hannover with the main focus on rhythm and movement.
