ZMS is located in close proximity to the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTMH). The students of the ZMS look out from most of the practice and living rooms onto the modern building behind the picturesque old archways. The HMTMH is an artistic-scientific university with the right to award doctoral and post-doctoral degrees. Around 1,500 students are educated here by more than 300 teachers in 33 subjects.
